JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Summary: The Corporate Facilities Engineer is responsible for leading and coordinating the systems compliance efforts at all plants per OSHA, IIAR, ASHRAE, and EPA standards. The Engineer will develop training programs and work with the different plant utilities groups to stay compliant and make the system safer and operating more efficiently and properly.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Advises the team of the new OSHA, IIAR, ASHREA 15, and EPA standards. Creates training and works with the supervisors and managers on all system improvements (including ammonia, MAU, and boiler systems). Responsible for reviewing program documents and plant procedures to ensure they are in alignment with regulations and Brakebush standards. Creates a matrix that illustrates how the plant is preforming and where the plant can make improvements in the future.

 

  • Creates and reviews new SOPs and P&IDs for new construction projects and new equipment. Assists in the design of any new system and manage projects as assigned. Troubleshoots issues in the systems and engineer fixes to the different systems.

 

  • Oversees the storm water and air emissions programs and compliance at all facilities.

 

  • Participates in the team that investigates Near Misses, Failure Analysis, and take action to prevent future occurrences at the different plants.

 

  • Assists the Corporate PSM Manager with auditing as needed and calculations and design for the system throughout the facilities.

 

Required Qualifications:  
 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Systems Engineering or related field and two years of systems/facilities experience OR a minimum of six-years hands-on experience in systems/facilities engineering including ammonia systems.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, PSM, EPA, IIAR and ASHRAE requirements.
  • Knowledge of PLC controls and Electrical systems
  • Professional verbal, written and facilitation skills; comfortable creating and delivering training materials.
  • Ability to work with people at all levels; strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills. Models’ composure and decision-making in stressful situations.
  • Organized to work within deadlines; attention to detail, problem-solve under pressure and handle emerging requirements with accuracy.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD (Revit, Plant 3D, Electrical) and MS Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:
 

  • Experience in food manufacturing/processing facilities (esp. poultry)
  • Regulatory compliance knowledge, including USDA regulations, HACCP, GMPs, and Food Safety
  • Experience in SAP
  • Knowledge of general First Aid, Hazmat Response and CPR

 

Supervisory Responsibility: This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

 

Work Environment: The work environment is a mix of office, production floor and utility areas (including the roof). Temperatures range from normal to cold. Normal office noise to louder noise levels in utility areas. Slippery floors and cool temperatures are present while in production. Must wear appropriate PPE and other equipment as necessary or required.

 

Physical Demands: Position will include extensive standing at times, sitting, lifting, wearing factory required equipment while working in production, walking, visual, responding quickly to sounds and driving.

 

Position Type: This position will work during 1st shift.  Additional time will be required working during 2nd and 3rd shifts.

 

Travel: Travel up to 45% for design, auditing, and training as needed to our plants in MN, NC, TX, and other locations as need.
