JOB DESCRIPTION


Summary: The FSQA Manager supports the facility and Director of FSQA to ensure the Hartwell facility produces safe and quality product, follows HACCP and SSOP programs and meets the high-quality assurance standards of our company and business partners.  The manager also serves as a liaison with our customers to ensure we our meeting and exceeding their expectation’s.


Essential Functions: 

  • Manages our Food Safety and SQF programs. The incumbent is responsible for maintaining the HACCP and SSOP Programs. Maintains all HACCP related documents and leads the HACCP team meetings. Responsible for establishing, implementing, and directing quality control and food safety efforts to ensure products meet quality, safety and legal requirements.  Follows up on root cause analysis and corrective actions when food safety deviations occur. Conducts and documents annual HACCP re-assessment. Determines if HACCP re-assessment is necessary for plant, process, material, or equipment changes. 
  • Oversees our Food Safety & Quality Audits. The incumbent manages 3rd Party and Customer Audits and corrective actions to findings, as well as our USDA audits. Ensures that the Prerequisite Programs are audited/verified annually, at minimum. Works with customers on their food safety and quality needs and shares customer communication and feedback with the team. Performs other related duties as assigned to support production demands as may be specified by customer or client.
  • Manages and Leads our FSQA Team. The incumbent is responsible for compliance to our Food Safety Training Program, including new team member training. Capable of working with and guiding supervisors/sr./lead supervisors/managers on all Food Safety & HACCP related programs.
  • Provides FSQA support. The incumbent Leads quality meetings with plant management and maintains documentation. Responsible for leading crisis management team and any recalls. Serves as main liaison with the USDA for day-to-day communication, NRs, MOIs, FSA’s and Weekly Meetings. Responsible for Supplier Foreign Material Reports and communication of those findings to USDA. 


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences, Food Science, or related field (is preferred) and five years of leadership experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, to include professional verbal and written communication, fluency in English, and the ability to communicate, make decisions and lead teams in stressful situations. 
  • HACCP and SQF training 
  • Competency in Microsoft Office Suite; emphasis on Word, Excel, SharePoint, and Planner; comfort learning and using new software/applications. 


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior supervisory experience in an SQF audited facility. 
  • Knowledge/experience in the meat (esp. poultry) industry
  • SAP and Infinity experience 


Supervisory Responsibility: This position will supervise the FSQA Supervisors.


Work Environment: This position will at time work in areas of high noise and varied temperatures (warm to cold). Slippery floors, moving equipment, and dust may be present.  Personal protective equipment will be worn as necessary or required.  


Physical demands: Position requires sitting in an office setting, standing for up to 8 hours, walking, bending and occasionally lifting to 50 lbs. 

Position Type: This is a full-time exempt position. Some weekend work may be required. 


Travel: Travel will be required from time to time. May be asked to travel to our other facilities, travel for customer visits and/or supplier audits/visits or trainings.
