JOB DESCRIPTION 


Summary: Production Planner II will generate the Production Plan in Hartwell by creating and managing production schedules in a cost-effective manner to meet sales demand, along with demand in the further processing facilities (Mocksville/Westfield/CO-Packer). This position involves collaboration with internal customers such as other Production Planners, logistics, shipping, Customer Service, Maintenance, Operations, Purchasing, R&D and Sales. Ensuring that the organization is always represented in a professional manner.


Essential Functions: 

  • Reviews, understands, and communicates demand plans to the Production Planner Manager upon putting the production plan together for Hartwell.
  • Communicates to the Hartwell Production Planning Manager, Purchasing Manager, and Plant Manager on any variances to the Production schedule through consistent review and comparison of items and volume produced to the prior day’s schedule.  
  • Creates planned and production orders for short and long-term planning through daily coordination of cooler inventories.
  • Recommends the number of raw material loads needed, equipment needs, and manpower needed weekly to cover sales needs with the Production Planning Manager.
  • Measures weekly production plan versus what was produced and communicates any differences to the Production Planner Manager and Hartwell Plant Manager.
  • Works with the Production Planner 2 or Production Planner 3 out of Irving to help schedule the West side (IQF & Flat Pack) at Irving
  • Plans production for all production areas in the Hartwell facility.
  • Leads production meetings twice a day to make sure the production plan is being executed and gives updates at the Supply Chain Call.
  • Cross train to understand how the cook facilities production schedule goes together.
  • Provides back-up for Production Planner Management as needed.


Required Qualifications: 

  • Internal Hartwell candidates: Bachelor’s degree in supply chain or related field, or Minimum three-years’ of Production, QA, Planning, Shipping or Supply Chain Logistics experience.
  • External candidate: Bachelor’s degree in supply chain related field, or minimum three-years’ experience in food manufacturing/food processing.
  • Ability to communicate, collaborate, and manage healthy internal relationships with all levels.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical, math, and problem-solving skills.
  • Competent in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook


Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Previous experience working in production planning and control in the food industry.
  • Understanding of BOM’s and Routings.
  • Knowledge of Warehouse & Inventory Management.
  • SAP experience.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills (formula creation, graphs, pivot tables)


Supervisory Responsibility: No supervisory responsibilities

 

Work Environment: The work environment is a hybrid, which includes an office environment with standard temperatures and normal office noise levels. Slippery floors and cool temperatures are present while in production. You must wear appropriate PPE and other equipment as necessary or required.



Physical Demands: This position would be primarily sitting with little to no lifting or other physical demands.

 

Position Type: Salaried Exempt, 1st shift, full-time ; Hybrid (80 remote/20 on-site)

 

Travel: Minimal travel required
