JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary: The Senior Production Supervisor is responsible for the effective placement and utilization of team members, equipment, and other resources to ensure quality product, consistently high yields, and line efficiency. Utilizing a "One Team, One Mission" approach, this position collaborates with and supports Production Supervisors and Leads, in addition to multiple departments (e.g., Safety, Quality Assurance, R&D, Maintenance, Shipping, and Sanitation), to achieve food/personal safety and minimize downtime, inedible, seconds and excessive costs.
Essential Functions:
- Use effective leadership, training, and ongoing feedback to empower teams to meet/exceed expectations for productivity, quality assurance, waste management and food/personal safety.
- Ensure updates and compliance of company policies and procedures, safety regulations, GMP’s, SOP’s, SSOP’s, HACCP and SQF.
- Coordinates and guides team through production situations e.g., startups, shutdowns, R&D Tests, product changeovers, change management concerns and sanitation. Manages special projects.
- Leads the performance appraisal and progressive, corrective action steps to promote positive and safe teamwork environments. Identifies areas for individual/team development.
- Seeks innovative and efficient ways to reduce condemns and inedible while improving product quality, yields and throughput on all the Production Lines.
- Improves and implements effective onboarding and training of new supervisors and/or new processes.
- Assists Shift Managers in the direction of Line Supervisors, Leads and line efficiencies. Conducts or attends meetings requiring Shift Managers in their absence (e.g., Scheduling Meeting, HACCP Meetings)
Required Qualifications:
- Demonstrated six years supervisory / leadership experience in a USDA regulated facility leading a production team OR a bachelor’s degree with three years of leadership experience.
- Demonstrated expertise and competence in production/production processes within the facility (e.g., all Production Lines, cookers, chillers, and freezers); ability to supervise multiple departments/processes at once.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, to include professional oral and written communication, a team-focused approach, and the ability to model composure/make decisions in stressful situations.
- Proven time-management and organizational/office skills including competency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams); ability to write reports and create spreadsheets with formulas.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Five years’ experience in a poultry facility
- Supervisory experience in a food processing setting (Further Processing experience preferred)
- Experience with SAP, Infinity, and our current HACCP regulations
- Bilingual (English/Spanish or English/Hmong) helpful, but not required
- Knowledge of general First Aid and CPR
Supervisory Responsibility: This position will assist the Production Manager with the operation of all the Production Lines and Production Team Members.
Work Environment: Wide variations in environment temperature (-10 freezer, 32-degree coolers, 40-degree plant, wet cold environment) noise, slippery floors and moving equipment, wearing appropriate PPE.
Physical Demands: Position will include extensive standing, sitting, lifting, wearing factory required equipment while working in production, walking, climbing stairs, visual inspections, responding quickly to team member needs, and challenges that may be happening.
Position Type: This is an exempt position. Some Saturday work required.
Travel: Travel may be required.
