JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary: The Production Manager works with the other production managers, shift managers, and cross functional managers to attain facility productivity and quality goals. Implements and drives the LEAN mentality and vision.
Essential Functions:
- Empowers supervisors and production team members to meet and exceed operational and quality standards.
- Ensures compliance of company policies and procedures, safety regulations, GMP’s, SOP’s, SSOP’s, HACCP and SQF.
- Mentors and motivates associates, providing training and development to optimize their performance and personal growth. Communicates performance standards to associates, recognizing and rewarding individual and team accomplishments and counseling performance problems. Ensures all associates have the resources and capabilities to effectively accomplish their responsibilities.
- Participates in regular meetings with plant management to discuss production improvements. Facilitates problem resolution related to production issues.
Required Qualifications:
- Five years of supervisory experience in a food-processing organization, preferably using computerized manufacturing equipment. Water Jet Cutting, Further Processing experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of USDA regulations, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and HACCP.
- Demonstrated understanding of production scheduling and other production variables such as run-rates, processing times, change-over times, etc.
- Demonstrated knowledge of efficient and safe manufacturing operations to include product and associate safety, OSHA standards, product quality (success rates), throughput delivery and cost control (minimizing downtime and waste, optimizing yield).
- Demonstrated mechanical and spatial aptitude, including the ability to disassemble and reassemble equipment and the ability to formulate and understand complex mathematical equations.
- Strong interpersonal skills, to include professional oral and written communication, a team-focused approach, and the ability to model composure/make decisions in stressful situations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A post-secondary degree in Food Science, Animal Science, Meat/Poultry Science, Engineering or Manufacturing Operations.
- Prior experience in a poultry facility
- Prior experience with SAP or Infinity
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred
- Competent in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Knowledge of general First Aid and CPR
Supervisory Responsibility: This position will manage the production supervisors at the Irving facility.
Work Environment: Wide variations in environment temperature (-10 freezer, 32-degree coolers, 40-degree plant, wet cold environment) noise, slippery floors and moving equipment.
Physical Demands: Position will include extensive standing at times, sitting, lifting, wearing factory required equipment while working in production, walking, visual, responding quickly to sounds and driving.
Position Type: This is an exempt position. The shift varies: first, second or third. Some Saturday work required.
Travel: Some travel maybe required for trainings and classes.
