JOB DESCRIPTION  

 

Summary: The Shipping/Warehouse Supervisor plays a key role in fostering collaboration across various departments. This role focuses on efficiently utilizing team members, equipment, and resources daily to attain optimal results while reducing scrap, rework, downtime, and unnecessary costs within a secure and safe environment. This position involves spending approximately 90% of the time on the operations floor and 10% engaged with data and computer tasks. 
 

Essential Functions:  

  • Empowers team members, through supervision, training, and feedback opportunities, to meet and exceed expectations for productivity, quality assurance, waste management and food/personal safety.  

  • Coordinates with transportation on storage, trailers, loading priorities and routing. 

  • Assigns freezer pick locations to all products in SAP. 

  • Supports all production lines by ensuring the delivery and timely removal of raw material and maintaining correct and timely inventories of all raw material, WIP, finished product, ingredients, and packaging.  

  • Manages shipping documentation, labeling, isolation and holds. Responsible for processing BOLs, ensuring staff accountability, and maintaining consistency in daily operations, including warehouse inventories, daily cycle counts, and the shipping and receiving of products. 

  • Plans, organizes, directs, and follows up to ensure all warehouse instructions, as well as Brakebush Policies and Procedures are followed, including Food Safety, GMPs, SOPs, SSOPs, HACCP and SQF.  

  • Provides a safe working environment and assists in ensuring staff compliance to safety measures, including PPE management of boot vouchers, lockout/tagout procedures for Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT) and prevention of unsafe actions that could damage facilities, equipment or individuals. 

 

Required Qualifications:   

  • Demonstrated three years supervisory or leadership skills in a shipping and receiving department or a bachelor’s degree and internship 

  • Working knowledge of Shipping and Receiving processes 

  • Understanding of Food Safety Plans, GMPs, SSOPs and HACCP 

  • PIT certified 

  • Strong interpersonal skills, to include professional oral and written communication, a team-focused approach, and the ability to model composure/make decisions in stressful situations  

  • Able to organize and coordinate work within schedule constraints and handle emergent requirements in a timely manner 

  • Competent in SAP and Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, and Outlook 

 

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Prior supervisory experience in a poultry/food processing setting 

  • Licensed for forklift, pallet jack, scissor lifts, and other PIT equipment 

  • Prior experience with SAP or Infinity  

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred 

  • Knowledge of general First Aid and CPR 

 

Supervisory Responsibility: This position will supervise the shipping team members at the Irving facility. 

 

Work Environment:  Wide variations in environment temperature (-10 freezer, 32-degree coolers, 40-degree plant, wet cold environment) noise, slippery floors and moving equipment.   

 

Physical Demands: Position will include extensive standing at times, sitting, lifting, wearing factory required equipment while working in production, walking, visual, responding quickly to sounds and driving. 

 

Position Type: This is an exempt position. The shift varies: first, second, third.  Some Saturday work required. 

 

Travel: Travel is not required.
