Summary: The FSQA Supervisor supports the FSQA Manager and FSQA Lead Supervisors to ensure the Hartwell facility produces safe and quality product, follows HACCP and SSOP programs and meets the high-quality assurance standards of our company and business partners.  

 

Shift Hours: 3 PM to 12 AM

 

Essential Functions: Food Safety / HACCP

  • Supervises and effectively leads the team of QA Techs to ensure accountability and compliance to all Food Safety & Quality programs and specifications, HR policies, progressive employee discipline, and time/attendance policies. 
  • Assists FSQA Manager with the maintenance of the HACCP Plan, Reassessments, Flow Charts, and serves as a shift liaison for daily USDA communication.
  • Plays a key role in audit preparation by assisting with weekly FSQA Reviews with the team, team training, maintaining sign-off rosters and record-keeping. Actively participates in each audit. 
  • Provides/oversees GMP/Food Safety-related trainings for the QA team, new hire orientations and all facility team members.
  • Supervises calibration of instruments, tracking certificates, and re-calibration dates. (Thermometers, metal checks, etc.) 

 

Essential Functions: Quality Assurance

  • Ensures customer satisfaction by helping with customer sample/new item needs, including the coordination of Before, Middle, and End cases for new product runs or per customer’s requests. Collaborates with the FSQA Manager on customer concerns, formal responses, and corrective actions. 
  • Ensures preparation and readiness for on-site and surprise audits through efficient and accurate data collection; collecting extra checks/data when needed and maintaining all Quality and Food Safety related records in an organized manner. 
  • Responsible for ensuring the accuracy and investigation process of Foreign Material. Helps track and communicate supplier bones and foreign material internally and externally.
     

Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated three years supervisory or lead experience in a USDA regulated facility OR a bachelor’s degree with a prior QA/Food Science (or closely related) internship. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills, to include professional verbal and written communication, fluency in English, and the ability to communicate, make decisions and lead teams in stressful situations. 
  • Ability to complete HACCP and SQF training 
  • Competency in Microsoft Office Suite; emphasis on Word, Excel, SharePoint, and Planner; comfort learning and using new software/applications. 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior supervisory experience in an SQF audited facility. 
  • Knowledge/experience in the meat (esp. poultry) industry
  • SAP experience 
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
     

Supervisory Responsibility: This position will supervise the QA technicians at the Hartwell facility.
 

Work Environment: This position will at time work in areas of high noise and varied temperatures (warm to cold). Slippery floors, moving equipment, and dust may be present.  Personal protective equipment will be worn as necessary or required.  
 

Physical demands: Position requires sitting in an office setting, standing for up to 8 hours, walking, bending and occasionally lifting to 50 lbs. 
 

Position Type: This is a full-time exempt position. Some Saturday work may be required. 
 

Travel: Minimal travel required. May be asked to travel to our other facilities.
