JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary: Under the direction of the Human Resources (HR) Manager, the HR Associate performs the necessary functions to support the HR & Safety Team. Such functions include FMLA administration, recruitment, and onboarding, processing unemployment, maintaining company training and personnel files, assisting with benefit questions, providing safety support on site, and assisting with other HR office functions as needed. The position requires frequent contact with personnel inside and outside the company, requiring reasonable tact, discretion, interpersonal skills, and working knowledge of HR policies and procedures.
Essential Functions:
- Administers and supports HR programs. The incumbent will administer our FMLA program, tuition assistance program and support hourly recruiting efforts. Other functions include maintaining our company training and personnel files and employee call in logs, and processing unemployment claims and internal and external employment applications. The HR associate will also complete other HR duties as needed.
- Assists in our orientation program. The incumbent will assist in planning weekly new hire orientations and participate in ensuring a successful and engaging orientation program from start to finish.
- Serves as a representative for employee benefit programs. The incumbent will assist employees with questions regarding benefit programs such as such as medical, life, dental, and vision insurances. Other functions may include planning and coordinating employee wellness initiatives and other employee event planning.
- Provides administrative support for the on-site safety department. The incumbent will assist in maintaining records related to safety trainings, incidents, tracking and other metrics.
- Route facility calls and direct visitors arriving at the facility. The incumbent acts as a primary contact for outside visitors and vendors entering the facility.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field OR an Associate Degree and 1+ years of Human Resources experience OR 2+ years of HR experience in human resources role(s).
- Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to organize and coordinate work within schedule constraints and handle emergent requirements in a timely manner
- Proficient in both oral and written communication
- Competent in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook/other e-mail software
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in food processing/manufacturing
- Experience supporting or managing a FMLA program
Supervisory Responsibility: None
Work Environment: The work environment is an office environment with standard temperatures and normal office noise levels.
Physical Demands: This position would be primarily sitting with little to no lifting or other physical demands. Subject to extended periods of sitting, working on PC and talking on telephone.
