Position:  Maintenance Lead 

Compensation:  Hourly Non-exempt 

Reports to:  Maintenance Manager

Qualifications:  Must be able to stand, walk, and climb stairs and ladders, up to 8 hours per day.  Must be able to lift heave objects.  Must meet Maintenance/Utilities back and task requirements.  Must display strong problem-solving skills.  Must pass Company math test.  Must complete power jack/ forklift training course, Lock Out/ Tag Out and Hazard Communication training courses.  Must be able to perform all types of welding and produce quality welds that meet requirements and USDA approval.  Must meet Journeyman Mechanic, Electrical, Utilities or equivalent in knowledge and experience. Must be able and available to work overtime as required.  

 

Job Summary: Fill in when Maintenance Supervisor is absent.  When not filling this role, then will perform as regular maintenance technician.  

Essential Functions:  

  • Assign work in the absence of the supervisor.  

  • Monitor work activities and advise or instruct as necessary.  

  • Respond to calls for maintenance, electrical or utilities support and send necessary personnel to address situation.  

  • Attend scheduling meetings to understand current shift needs.  

  • Coordinate maintenance work within the shift.  

  • Monitor radio calls for maintenance help and get involved as necessary.  

  • As required assist maintenance, electrical or utilities personnel with ongoing repairs.  

  • When not required to perform lead duties, will perform regular maintenance, electrical or utilities work as required.  

  • Ensure all installations and repairs are performed in accordance with HACCP, USDA and Food Safety (SQF) guidelines.  

  • Ensure a constant flow of communication with supervisors, production, and QA is maintained, also other duties assigned 

  • Able to lift 50lbs or more at a time while performing maintenance.  

  • Work overtime as required or assigned.

Candidate will be proficient in the areas listed above. 

Perform other related duties as required by management. 

Supervisory Responsibility: This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities. 

 

Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

Working Conditions: High noise, varied temperatures (warm to cold), slippery floors, moving equipment and dust may be present.  Employees will wear personal protective equipment as necessary or required.
