Summary: The Shipping and Receiving Manager is responsible for the warehouse operation in the Hartwell facility.  The incumbent is expected to effectively place and use shipping/receiving personnel, equipment, and other resources to ensure finished product is received, properly stored, allocated and shipped accurately and efficiently to our customers. Operating on our “One Team, One Mission” approach, this position successfully collaborates with and supports multiple shifts and departments to achieve this efficiency and compliance with environmental laws and company policy. 

 

Essential Functions: 

 

  • Provides leadership to Shipping/Receiving team through supervision, training and continuous performance management that promotes a positive culture consistent with Brakebush mission and values. Reviews time and attendance for accuracy and timely submittal to Payroll. Responsible for team’s annual participation in SQF and Safety training, implementing Quality Assurance Corrective Actions, documentation, and potential retraining activities.   

 

  • Collaborates across multiple shifts, facilities, departments (esp. warehouse personnel, Maintenance, Utilities,  IT) and external vendors to train on and maintain standardized shipping, storage, and SAP practices and proper  equipment use company-wide; includes reporting on equipment/facility needs and repairs. Provides back-up to  Receiving Supervisor and team as needed. Reports status to key team members in regularly scheduled update  meetings. 
     
  • Serves as primary administrator of Shipping/Receiving department who effectively maintains department  inventory of supplies and equipment, initiates weekly SAP Post Goods Issues, and completes IT-directed stack  testing. Supports regulatory and compliant practices through tracking and completion of routine and annual  Shipping department logs and necessary documentation; works with Safety on accident/damage claim  investigations that originate in the department; provides accurate support documents for annual inventory  and Quality Assurance audits.  
     
  • Operates as the department’s primary trainer/oversees team certification on Power Industrial Truck (PIT) and  other large equipment to ensure driver qualification and safety. Develops and trains Leads, Backup Leads and  key department team members on new SAP processes. 

 

Required Qualifications: 

 

  • Five plus years of supervisory/management experience in warehouse management/shipping and receiving 
  • Professional interpersonal skills to include oral and written communication, a team approach, and the ability to model composure/make decisions in stressful situations. 
  • Demonstrated expertise and competence in Shipping, warehouse operations, related equipment, and processes.
  • Experience/knowledge of SAP within the Warehouse Management module
  • Competent in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).  

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Ten years’ experience in a warehouse setting, preferably in food/raw product
  • Regulatory compliance knowledge, including USDA regulations, HACCP, GMP and Food Safety (SQF)
  • Strong command of SAP, Infinity, and current HACCP regulations
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish or English/Hmong) helpful  
  • Knowledge of general First Aid and CPR

 

Supervisory Responsibility: This position will supervise a Receiving Supervisor and hourly shipping/receiving team members across multiple shifts at the Hartwell facility.

 

Work Environment: Wide variations in environment temperature (-10 freezer, 32-degree coolers, 40-degree plant, wet cold environment) noise, slippery floors and moving equipment, wearing appropriate PPE. 

 

Physical Demands: Position will include extensive standing, sitting, lifting, wearing factory required equipment while working in production, walking, climbing stairs, visual inspections, responding quickly to team member needs, and challenges that may be happening.

 

Travel: Some travel may be required in this position to assist in other facilities. (Less than 5%)
