JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary: Under the direction of the Human Resources (HR) & Safety Manager, this position performs the necessary functions to support the HR & Safety Teams. Such functions include non-exempt team member recruitment and onboarding, maintaining company training and personnel files, assisting with benefit questions, providing safety support while assisting with other office or reception functions as needed. The position requires frequent contact with personnel inside and outside the company, requiring reasonable tact, discretion, interpersonal skills, and working knowledge of HR policies and procedures.
This position is a first shift position, however the Brakebush Wells facility operates on three shifts, so the incumbent may be required to occasionally work hours on the 2nd and/or 3rd shifts.
To comply with Minnesota’s Pay Transparency Law, total annual estimated compensation range with performance-based bonus and benefits for this position is up to $53,500 based on relevant work experience and job skills.

Essential Functions:
- Coordinates nonexempt recruiting and on-boarding. The incumbent actively markets, recruits, interviews, and hires for all hourly plant positions. The incumbent maintains the applicant tracking systems and initiates the preemployment process of new employees through completion of all required paperwork.
- Coordinates the plant onboarding program. The incumbent plans, implements, and conducts new hire orientations and ensures a successful and engaging onboarding program from start to finish.
- Serves as a representative for employee safety, benefits & wellness programs. The incumbent will assist employees with questions regarding safety initiatives and coordinating benefit & wellness programs. Other functions may include planning employee wellness initiatives and other employee event planning.
- Organizes and facilitates training on all safety topics. The incumbent will assist in safety training for all team members on topics including Blood Borne Pathogens (BBP), Powered Industrial Vehicles (PIV), Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Fall protection, Ergonomics, and First Aid/CPR.
- Maintains and implements Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) programs. The incumbent will assist in maintaining records related to safety training, incidents, audits, and other metrics to include Lockout/Tagout, Hazard Communications, PIV, and Hearing Conservation records.
- Routes facility calls and directs visitors arriving at the Wells facility. The incumbent acts as a primary contact for outside visitors and vendors entering the facility.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field OR an associate degree and 1+ years of human resources experience OR 2+ years of experience in human resources type role(s).
- Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to organize and coordinate work within schedule constraints and handle emergent requirements in a timely manner.
- Proficient in both oral and written communication.
- Competent in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook/other e-mail software.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in an industrial environment, food processing or manufacturing.
- Experience supporting or managing a safety program.
Supervisory Responsibility: No supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment: Wide variations in environmental temperature (32-degree coolers, 40-degree plant, wet cold environment), noise and moving equipment.
Physical Demands: Position will include extensive standing at times, sitting, lifting, wearing factory required equipment while working in production, walking, visual, responding quickly to sounds and driving.
Travel: Occasional travel to another facility may be required for training and classes.
