HOURS: 22:00 p.m. – 6:30 a.m. Variable
WAGE: $24.23/hour
JOB SUMMARY: The QA technician reports to and derives authority from his/her QA Supervisor/Lead Person. This individual has the authority to take action as necessary to carry out appointed duties.
JOB DUTIES: Pre-Op Position
· Pre-operative inspection of processing equipment and the facility to ascertain cleanliness and fitness for duty.
· Complete report on findings during inspection and follow-up with necessary steps to remedy deficiencies.
· Calibrate all: floor scales, line scales, water meters and thermometers.
· Set up clipboard forms for QA1 & QA3.
· Set up materials for QA Receiving as needed.
· Finish up QA2 duties after 2200-net weights, Holds, condemns, & contaminations.
· Cooler, inedible dock & locker inspections.
· Water/chlorine & fresh oil tests.
· Tidy up, print and e-mail QA notes.
· Investigate for possible contaminations including securing materials for HACCP committee: Photos, specimens, machine check forms, metal detector forms, statements, anything else relevant to circumstances.
· Be knowledgeable about USDA program requirements and work with USDA personnel in making certain that regulations are being followed and making available HACCP records as requested.
· Other duties include:
1. Batter tests
2. Colorimeter product tests
3. Product temperature checks (frozen, fully cooked).
4. Box counts/ portion weight checks
5. Boneless product inspection
6. Scale/ Metal detector checks
7. General record keeping/ filing
8. Research data for customer complaints
9. Verify monitors tests to satisfy HACCP
10. Sample collection for bacti/ prep and fat moisture
11. Formulation checks/ marination checks
12. Returned product inspection / paperwork
13. Maintain record of restricted ingredient usage
14. FFA test on oils (able to differentiate colors)
15. Assist with receiving inspection
16. Be tolerant of extended periods of time standing/walking and variation in environment (temperatures, humidity, flour, etc.)
17. Bug light checks (weekly) Rodent trap checks (inside/outside) (monthly)
18. Other Duties as assigned by management
WORKING CONDITIONS: Exposure to varying temperatures, high noise, wet conditions, slippery floors, dust, and humidity. Some heavy lifting required. Wear appropriate PPE and other equipment as necessary or required. Periodic bending, lifting and twisting throughout shift.
QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent. Must pass QA & QA Receiver Technician Back & Task requirements. Math test will be administered to applicants who have never previously been tested. Computer knowledge and the ability to work well with other departments is beneficial. Certified power jack operator or willing to become certified.
