JOB DESCRIPTION 

 

Summary: The Accounts Payable Clerk serves a critical role in accurately processing daily accounts payable transactions. 

 

Essential Functions: 

 

  • Administers accounts payable invoices and determines that all invoices are paid timely and accurately.  Verifies that quantity and pricing match and investigates any pricing, quantity and receiving issues.  

 

  • Collaborates with other departments and all plants to resolve pricing, quantity and receiving issues and obtains required purchase orders (PO) for invoices.  

 

  • Processes checks and ACH payments and maintains spreadsheets for utility payments and recycling information. Issues accounts payable reports, determines tax on invoices and manages 1099’s. 

 

  • Provides back-up for the Accounts Payable Supervisor as needed.

 

Required Qualifications: 

 

  1. Associates Degree in Accounting or related field and a minimum of one year of accounting experience OR three years of prior accounting experience preferably in a manufacturing environment. 
  2. Strong demonstrated working knowledge of accounts payable principles and practices.
  3. Able to organize and coordinate work within schedule constraints and handle emergent requirements in a timely manner
  4. Strong organizational skills; verbal and written communication skills; analytical mindset and attention to detail
  5. Competent in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook/other e-mail software

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

 

  1. Prior experience working in the food/manufacturing industry 
  2. Knowledge of SAP and Business Intelligence software 

 

Supervisory Responsibility: There are no supervisory responsibilities. 

 

Work Environment: Office environment.  Subject to extended periods of sitting, working on PC and talking on telephone.   

 

Physical Demands: Position will include extensive sitting.

 

Position Type: This position will have a hybrid work schedule whereby working from home is the norm, but may require time working from the office as needed. 

 

Travel: There is no expected travel.
