POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Senior FSQA Supervisor plays a critical role in safeguarding public health and ensuring consumer trust by supporting the FSQA Manager and Assistant Manager in upholding the highest safety and quality standards at the Westfield facility. By adhering to SQF, HACCP, and SSOP programs, this position is vital in delivering safe, high-quality products that meet the rigorous expectations of our company and business partners. This role not only streamlines operations but also strengthens our team’s ability to fulfill our customers' needs efficiently and effectively.
Essential Functions:
Food Safety/HACCP
- Acts as the alternate SQF Practitioner during the Annual SQF Audit, working closely with the FSQA Team to ensure compliance with all Food Safety regulations at the Westfield location.
- Maintains all Food Safety documentation and ensures proper execution of FSQA duties by the Westfield Team.
- Coordinates essential Food Safety training for team members and conducts monthly internal audits, enhancing the facility’s commitment to safety.
- Manages GMP training programs and plays a pivotal role in responding to and investigating temperature alarms on shipments, thereby protecting product integrity.
- Assists with HACCP investigations, ensuring the highest standards of food safety.
- Steps in for the FSQA Manager/Assistant Manager as needed, ensuring leadership continuity.
Quality Assurance
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive working relationships, resolve conflicts effectively and promotes a culture of food safety through consistent training and leadership.
- Directly oversea three FSQA Supervisors and help lead and provide leadership to approximately 60 team members in Food Safety & Quality Assurance.
- Engages in daily decision-making and maintains regular communication across all shifts, ensuring seamless operations.
- Manages employee attendance and conducts performance reviews, fostering a motivated and efficient workforce.
- Addresses paperwork inquiries from QA and Production and assists with personnel issues, promoting a supportive work environment.
- Oversee corrective actions and food safety reconciliations, reinforcing our commitment to quality.
- Manages internal audits and updates procedures and forms as required, ensuring continuous improvement.
- Supports production by addressing errors and inspecting products for quality concerns.
- Collaborate with the FSQA Manager on customer concerns and corrective actions, enhancing customer satisfaction and loyalty.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
For Internal Candidates: Currently in a supervisory role with a minimum of 1 year of relevant professional experience, preferably in FSQA.
For External Candidates:
- Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences, Food Science, or related field with leadership experience, or minimum of 1 year of relevant supervisory experience in a USDA-regulated facility leading a Quality Assurance team.
- Strong interpersonal skills with proficiency in English, capable of effective communication and decision-making in high-pressure situations.
- HACCP and SQF training or willingness to complete such training.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with an aptitude for learning new software and applications.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in an SQF-audited facility.
- Knowledge or experience in the meat and poultry industry, particularly poultry.
- Familiarity with SAP or similar ERP systems.
Work Environment: This position is 100% on-site in Westfield, Wisconsin. This position will at times work in areas of high noise and varied temperatures (warm to cold). Slippery floors, moving equipment, and dust may be present. Personal protective equipment will be worn as necessary or required.
Physical demands: Position requires sitting in an office setting, standing for up to 8 hours, walking, bending and occasionally lifting to 50 lbs.
Position Type and Hours: This is a full-time exempt position primarily during 1st shift (est. 8:00am-5:00pm). Some Saturday work may be required. Occasional presence on 3rd shift (est. 9:00pm-5:30am).
Travel: Limited travel as needed for professional development/training and FSQA audits/visits to other facilities or suppliers/vendors.
